Mountain Dwellings / BIG with JDS The Mountain Dwellings are the 2nd generation of the VM Houses – same client, same size and same street. The program, however, is 2/3 parking and 1/3 living. What if the parking area became the base upon which to place terraced housing – like a concrete hillside covered by a thin layer of housing, cascading from the 11th floor to the street edge? Naha City Gallery & Apartment house / 1100 Architect The Naha project includes a gallery, retail space, partially submerged parking lot, and three rental apartments that each occupies an entire floor. The varied programs are unified by a consistent focus on the permeable interface of interior and exterior. Skansen Residences / Dorte Mandrup The terrace houses have been built in connection with the official exhibition ‘Living 2006+’ in Ringsted. The construction consists of 7 terrace houses, placed in rows of 2 with respectively 3 and 4 housings, which stagger along a building line. The 2 floors of the terrace houses are split-levelled around a mid zone that secures an optimized utilization of the spaces, with a logical and functional distribution inside the housing (read more…)
